Stop The Quarry Site  (Archived at Big Library)

The Middle Tennessee Land Development LLC has proposed opening a limestone quarry operation in the southern Cahaba Valley adjacent to the ecologically-significant Ebenezer Swamp wetlands.   A quarry operation will have profound adverse effects, not only on Ebenezer Swamp and its denizens but on the local human population as well. Enhanced satellite view and interactive satellite view (links below) added by Big Library.

Potential impacts of quarry operations on Ebenezer Swamp and surrounding area:

  • Alteration of water cycle – decreased groundwater, increased surface water.
  • Accelerated sinkhole development.
  • Increased downstream flooding.
  • Impairment of public and private drinking water supply.
